The classic Rosé. Champagne that got everybody excited about Rosé. Champagne in the first place! An elegant cuvee made up of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and still Pinot Noir red wine, it has substance, stature and considerable breed. Billecart has reached a level of worldwide demand with the likes of Cristal and Dom Perignon, most notably with this Brut Rosé.
The rosé has always had a caché about it for many years - perhaps because it was one of the more widely distributed Rosé champagnes or maybe because of its original iconic and elegant cursive label that's now been replaced with what you see today. There is no doubt it is a great champagne and one that will complement any special occasion. Billecart-Salmon was founded in 1818 by Nicolas François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon in the village of Mareuil-Sur-Ay. The estate has been in the family's hands since then and is currently run by the 6th generation of François and Antoine Roland-Billecart. The family owns 100 hectares of vines and buys grapes from over 220 hectares of vineyards in Montagne de Reims, Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs. This makes them a Négotiant-Manipulant vs a Récoltant-Manipulant, or a producer who buys grapes as opposed to a "grower producer" who only makes Champagne from the vineyards they own.
